My thoughts about The upcoming movie Batman VS Superman

With the movie coming out next week on Friday, and the comic book fans are really divided about this, many videos from famous youtubers such as the Screen Junkies, that many consider as a DC haters (which I don’t) or the Black Nerd “Andre”, have expressed their concerns about the movie. But should we be worried though?

What the movie is talking about? The movie starts after the events of Man of Steel for those who haven’t seen it, WTH are you waiting for? The movie is certainly not the best superman movie, but we were able to see different traits of Superman and finally seeing fight and not facing again Luthor (a human without a power but dangerous) as is only enemy and dropped the boy scout attitude which I always found annoying.

 

 Here is the plot of the movie Batman VS Superman: “Two years after the events that happened in Metropolis during the Invasion on earth by Kryptonians, the city was destroyed and many people died during the fight of the Man of steel and the General Zod. One man watched the event happening and was present during that day, the billionaire Bruce Wayne, AKA BATMAN, and decided to take on the man of steel that he considers as a threat for the humanity and not his savior. But in the shadows Lex Luthor embarks in his own crusade against the Man of Steel.” Directed by Zach Snyder, the main cast are: Henry Cavill as Clark Kent (Supeman), Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne (Batman), Gal Gadot as the Princess of Amazones Diana ( Wonder Woman), Jesse Eseingberg as Lex Luthor, etc.

With this movie coming out, this is a preparation for the upcoming Justice League movie coming soon, and the response from Warner Bros (the company owning the right for DC Comics products) to Disney’s Avengers, also owner of the rights for Marvel.

So now let’s talk about my pros and Cons about the movie:

 

Pros

·         It’s Batman VS Superman, for God’s Sake! Every comic book fans that have watched the cartoons or read the comics, were waiting for something like this to happen on Movie and this has finally happened now. So go watch the movie on Friday, 25^th March.

·         Ben Affleck was also participating for the writing of the script. This is a good thing as he has proven in the past to be an excellent producer and writer for movies that he produced such as Town and Argo.

·         Finally, based on the last trailer we were able to see a Ninja Batman, which is Christian Bale the previous Batman was not.

·         The preparation of the Dawn of Justice League: previous TV spots were released by Warner Bros, the company producing the movie, showing Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman interpreted by Jason Mamoa famously known as Kal Drogo from Games of Thrones.

·         They addressed the flaws of Man of Steel and rectified it: which caused heated arguments among critics and Fans about the destruction of the city, a grimm Superman and Superman killing Zod. Although I have to admit I didn’t have any issue with that and enjoyed the movie nonetheless.

·         And Wonder Woman making on the big screen, forming with Batman and Superman, the Trinity of the DC Comics.

CONS

·         Zach Snyder: the Director of the movie, although Zach Snyder gave us Movies such as 300 and Watchmen which is really underrated in my opinion. But I have to admit that some of his previous movies, such as the infamously Sucker Punch, was not well received critically and also by the public. People, me included, are scared that he would be another Man of Steel 2.0 that many people hated for reasons mentioned above, or another Sucker punch which was a complete mess to understand the plot due to the many sub plot within the movie.

·         DOOMSDAY: Superman’s worst enemy is appearing in the movie. The designs of the creature looked like a ninja turtle and the fact that it was completely spoiled by the production. It was rumored but not confirmed and fans were expecting to see it only in the movie theater.

·         Christopher Nolan out: the fact that Man of steel was good to be honest and as a better writing was without a doubt due to the Director Nolan, who gave us the Batman Trilogy, Inception  or Shutter Island. The fact that he is out is not a good thing. The fact that he was out for this, don’t make me feel at 100% for this.

·         Gal Gadot: Yes, I would have never pictured her to play Wonder Woman. For those who don’t remember her she was in Fast and Furious 5 and 6. She doesn’t have enough range for that character that I really like in the cartoons and DC Anime that I love. I would have preferred a woman that could compete with Black Widow from Scarlett Johanson in the Avengers, such as Jessica Chastain, or Charlize Theron, or again Emily Blunt who was amazing in Edge of Tomorrow (Also really underrated).

·         Jesse Eseingberg: Social Network, Now you See Mee. One thing that I noticed after people pointed out, HE ALWAYS PLAYS THE SAME TYPE OF CHARACTER IN ALMOST EVERY MOVIE. This is annoying for me, because he is playing Lex Luthor, the evil human mind that challenges Superman and the Justice League. After being able to see his flaws I am quite worried.

·         Does DC really need to rush everything with the Justice League?

 

Yes Marvel is owning the market of Comic Books Movies and Shows, with Avengers, Daredevil TV, Jessica Jones, Captain America and So forth. Compared to Marvel, which has unknown characters to people who were not fan of comic book they were able to create a market for those customers with Iron Man, which opened the gate for more movies due to his success and now the Avengers one of the most successful movies of all time, along with Titanic, Avatar, Star Wars, with 1 billion$ at the box office and huge success critically. Why the need to rush everything? Marvel’s success was due to the fact that they first introduced the solo Movies of the Characters most of the principal characters in the Avengers before doing the Movie. Although I understand their needs to differentiate themselves but they should have let us know, at first, the characters of the Justice Leagues such as Flash or Cyborg, before this one. However they are quite advanced with theirs shows such as Flash, my favorite, Arrow, Legends of tomorrow. But I am still quite optimistic and perplex at the same time, I look forward for next week so that I would be able to judge the movie by myself.
